Drawing influence from iconic rock bands like Alice In Chains and Hum, soft spot's 2025 debut album This Will Make You Cry has garnered more than 115,000 Spotify streams to date. The band is beginning to make an impact outside of the United States, gaining popularity in Latin America countries such as Chile and Mexico, and now is etching a path in Europe.
After a successful tour across the East Coast and Midwest last month, which included stops in some of the nation's largest cities, the Connecticut alternative rock/grunge quartet soft spot continues trajectory as a band on the rise with the release of the official music video for their latest single "Temporary Bliss."
Whether romantic, platonic or familial, relationships are complicated, and sometimes we might find ourselves holding back our true feelings in favor of keeping the peace. While we might feel relief in the moment, when we make the choice to silence our voice instead of expressing ourselves. it can lead to regret and resentment. "Temporary Bliss" is the manifestation of this experience in song form.
Capturing the lighthearted humor that soft spot demonstrates on stage and that comes as a lively contrast to their grunge-tinged alternative rock, the video follows the quartet as they play a group of greedy salesmen selling temporary bliss to forlorn customers looking for a remedy for their woes. The band sums up the clip in one sentence -"When man becomes desperate, he might just consider Temporary Bliss as the solution."
"Temporary Bliss" is the first single off soft spot's forthcoming EP, 1-800-soft-spot, which is scheduled for release on May 22. The band will celebrate their latest project with a release show at Cafe Nine in New Haven, CT, that night.
