Gaining significant momentum over the past year with the release of popular singles such as "Down" and "Loose," as well as a number of successful live shows around Connecticut and the Northeast, alternative rock trio soft spot returns to captivate fans once again with its highly anticipated debut album This Will Make You Cry, available now on all digital platforms.
True to its name, soft spot is known for the ability to hit the "soft spots" in the hearts of listeners, and with This Will Make You Cry, the band continues to demonstrate its skill for crafting relatable songs that conjure a well of emotions. Comprising eight grunge-tinged tracks, the album captures the fluctuations of life, specifically addressing the fluid nature of personal relationships while serving as a container for the ghosts that are left behind when those relationships fade.
"'This Will Make You Cry' is an album that's at least four years in the making. Not so much the recording of it, but all the feelings and events that transpire within this record have pretty much happened over the last four years," Gianni Carpanzo, the band's vocalist and guitarist shares. "It's an album about dealing with people and things that are no longer in your life. When you feel like you can no longer say the things to the people you wish you could, you might as well put those feelings in a song and let them live there. Sometimes it's the only way you can deal with it."
"We hope this record finds you at a time when you most need it." - soft spot
In addition to the previously released singles "Hey Now," "Use Me," "Screw It," "Loose" and "Down," This Will Make you Cry also features the focus track "Time," a raw exploration of the risk that comes with pouring energy into a relationship, only to hit a dead end and be left feeling depleted in the aftermath.
soft spot is currently on their This Will Make You Cry Tour to audiences around the East Coast and the Midwest throughout the remainder of June, having made stops in Philadelphia, Chicago, New York and more.
Drawing influence from iconic rock bands like Alice In Chains and Hum, soft spot has made an undeniable impact with its moody, expansive sound, and has begun to win over listeners beyond the US, most recently getting attention in South America. In addition to Carpanzano, the band is also formed by David Eisermann on bass and Marc Marenco on drums. Together, the trio will continue to make their fans cry in the best way as 2025 rolls ahead.
