After taking over Summer 2024 with the infectious hit "Good Times," Connecticut-based alt/indie rock band The Inside Out has returned to get fans dancing once again with "The Way It Was," its latest single and the highly anticipated next cut from its forthcoming album, due out later this year.
Perfect for any summer playlist, the new single is a dynamic collision of nostalgia-fueled lyrics and sunny melodies, encouraging listeners to live life to the fullest with no regrets. As much as we may wish we could, we can't change the past, but The Inside Out reminds us to stay grounded in the present and to enjoy moments that make life worth living alongside the people we love, allowing us to look back with the confidence that we made the most of our time.
"This song is about nostalgia. Being surrounded by the ones you love and later on in life realizing that those are fleeting," James Howard, the band's frontman shares. "Having lost a brother this past winter, this song reminds me of being happy with my family in those fleeting moments. It's in the title, but where nothing is/was perfect, everything's the way it was. For good for for worse, don't miss out on anything if you can help it. You're always going to wish you did more with someone you lose."
"The Way It Was" follows the success of The Inside Out's previous singles "Good Times," "Too Late," and "Mr. Arrogant," and will be followed by additional singles leading up to the release of the band's highly awaited forthcoming album.
"The more chances you take and the more you're living life on your terms, the easier it is to transport back to the past with those you've lost." - The Inside Out
Compromising James Howard, John Landino, Andi Wright and Zack Apuzzo, The Inside Out has garnered attention from listeners and press across the country with its exhilarating yet thought-provoking tracks that speak to the wide array of complex tracks that speak to the wide array of complex emotions and thoughts that make us human. Look out for more new music from this skilled quartet in the coming months.
